Confluence brings
together water images that have been parts of other photographic series with
images created specifically to express the beauty, simplicity, and importance
of water. The mechanical sources of these images range from 35mm to pinhole
to large format cameras, so to cohere the visual style the negatives are scanned
into Photoshop and outputted as inkjet prints. I am always attracted to water.
Its ability to simultaneously reflect, be translucent, and to be an object
creates endless photographic possibilities. However, it is not merely the
visual characteristics to which I am drawn, it is also its life giving characteristics,
its fundamental simplicity, and its ever-presence in our daily lives. Waters
importance cannot be understated. This simple substance is so flexible it
is essential to all life on this planet and each of us is more than sixty-percent
water. This series celebrates water in all its forms and is subcategorized
as follows: Absence, Clouds and Fog, Lakes and Oceans, Pools and Puddles,
Rivers and Streams, Snow and Ice, and Wetlands and Waterfalls.
