Life Jacket Safety…
Small Children and those who are not strong swimmers should be wearing life jackets while on docks and boats. Even kids (and adults alike) that are good swimmers may panic when falling in the water or they could hit their head on the way down. Also, with lake levels very low, it is more difficult to pull oneself out of the water. Please familiarize yourself with the locations of swim ladders.

All the Eldean kids (including little Herbie and Rog) would wear life jackets until they could prove they weren’t necessary. I needed to demonstrate swimming from the end of C-Dock to the Gas Dock and also get out of the water. Until we could pass the test, wearing a life jacket was mandatory and there were no exceptions!

Fortunately for your kids, life jackets are much more comfortable to wear than most of us remember. Check out our Ship’s Store to get the most comfortable fitting life vest.
